Mhmmm... I can see how giving users an interactive, playful, empowering experience can take mindfulness “work” into a higher dimension.

Years ago I tried meditation and it simply didn’t work for me. Instead I found writing to be quite effective.

All of life is an experiment!

Congrats Hazel and Ellie on your collaborative creation. V. Awesome!

A lot of people don't realise that meditation is just one tool of many and it doesn't work for everyone. Even CBT, the alleged "gold standard" in therapy, works for only 50% of patients, which goes to show you that we have different needs. It's great that you recognised this and instead of trying to go against yourself, you found something that resonates more deeply with who you are.

One of my favorite songs is All Kinds of Kinds by Miranda Lambert. Yes! We are all different.

It’s a song I reference for myself (and others) often. 🎤🎵

It’s a playful way to remember that my way is only one among many.

Love what you and Hazel are putting out!

Oh I just started playing this last night! It came up as an Instagram ad and drew me in. Love that you have a Substack too.

My son just did a research project (year 12) about how video games are the superior experience compared to tv & film (for a few reasons he explained so well) & it totally persuaded me. He then mentioned how it could be harnessed as a powerful tool for mental health & other opportunities. It’s already happening with apps like yours. 🫶🏻

It’s a bit random but - ever since I was talking to my mcolleagues about Betwixt and showed them - many mentioned about how they liked the style and pictures. I myself am really impressed with the style and art. I was quite impressed what effect that kind of artsy engagement has on others too.

Well done Hazel and Ellie. I love the story about the user who struggled with doubt, turning it into something easy to love. Brilliant. You two are doing important work!

I think a big issue is that so many of these apps / practices are tried in isolation -- this is why religion seems to work best -- it's part of a larger worldview/community + cultural fabric.
